A month ago I hatched 20 eggs in an incubator from fertile eggs I collected from my adult hens. I tried initially to allow one of the hens to hatch the eggs but before they could have she kicked them all over the floor of the coop and broke many. I wound up hatching 20 Chicks from fertile eggs from these hens. Now the babies are a month old and I made a run inside the big run where the adults are. I just found one of the babies with its tail ripped off..dead. looks like a hen grabbed it through the wire. Another chick was injured but seems ok. Is this normal?

Take a picture of the setup. There are lots of predators that like chicken and little ones are much more at risk than adults. If there is a hole big enough for a quarter to pass through, it's big enough for a rat to get in, for example. Opossum can get through 2x4 welded wire and dog kennel panels. Raccoons have pretty long arms and will reach through chicken wire... It's true that a hen might be to blame but it's more likely to have been a predator.

Well I have discovered that thereally must be a bully in the flock of chicks. I have five more with bloody spots on their backsides. I separated them but I need to take the bully out. Watching for the one who is beating up on the others
