Question About Introducing Water Bucket W/Nipples

More Waters Always better, Frozen Cherry Tomatoes iz a Fun Time, watch as chase. & play keep-a-way . . . Melons just as fun to watch. As they drink More water from bucket , I added a Non Metal Pan of water Low enough to cover feet, not enough for ducks to swim. in Bottom of Run with bricks. I think chicken regulate temp with feet.

Dunno about the feet for sure, some yes I think but when its hot they pant. Just like a dog or a cat. Also they fluff and dust bathe more if they're hot I think.

Great ideas, thx!

This morning I introduced the bucket w 4 vertical nipples to month old chicks. Within seconds the six of them began pecking at the nipples, no need to show them. They are so curious, they want to check out everything, and if one does it, everyone else wants to do it too. Those nipples were irresistible to them. It sounds like an old typewriter clacking away.....

Question for those in the know, when temps start getting 95+ I'm thinking of putting their old waterer back in the coop, so they have two sources of water, nipple bucket in run, floor waterer in coop. Just because it gets HOT here. Any problem with that idea? Will they stop using nipple bucket?

I use two containers in different locations to be sure nobody gets chased away from a drink but they're both nipple type (verticals here). There seems to be a misconception that the chickens barely get enough water unless they have a fount. I'm not sure why. A chicken can stand there holding the nipple open and chug from it -- it's not a drip per peck situation. I think it's actually less effort for them than dipping & tipping by the beakful.
