I have a baby Easter egger that is about 4 days old. It and 5 other chicks arrived today. I gave each a drop of nutri drench. They all perked up, including this baby. I have noticed it likes to sit down a lot more that the others. It gets up when the others are eating and pecks a little then sits down again and sleeps. is this normal? Its wings seem a little droopy too. Is it just a very laid back chick?

Electrolytes.

  1. 4 cups water.
  2. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
  3. 3 tablespoons sugar or honey (remember that babies can't have honey until they're at least 1 year old)
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  5. optional: 1/2 packet (old fashioned) unsweetened Kool-Aid.

What is the temp in the warm area of the brooder, and the cooler end of the brooder?

I'm doing it the old fashioned way. A light bulb in a jar. It always works for me. I'm unsure of the temp. All the others are running around. She doesn't seem too hot or too cold. She sits near the jar but doesn't get right next too it as if she is cold or anything. She probably stays about 2-3 inches away from it. The cool end of the brooder is room temp.

My baby is still sick! She's getting worse. I can get her to drink from a spoon, but she won't eat. She's getting weaker. What can I do?

Did you give it electrolytes?

Are you spoon watering it still?

I gave it a drop of nutridrench this morning. I tried mashing up boiled egg with chick starter and sugar water last night but she wouldn't eat it. I spoon water her about every 45 min.

Keep offering water...
There is not much else you can do imo.
