Goose Egg Incubation

You should check with your state. You may still need a permit so you don't get fined.

Yes, you'll want the paperwork from the people who gave you the eggs to prove that it is indeed a domestic Canada goose.

After looking through all of the regulations in Arkansas, it says that a permit is not required to possess native species if they are reared from young (excluding song birds, hawks, and owls). I looked all over this page and nothing was said about native waterfowl other than you are responsible for the birds and that they must be a native species. However, if the birds are grown and have gotten injured (in the wild), you must have a rehabilitation liscense to have the bird.

Besides this, I don't know if they received paperwork. They don't even know what hatchery they could have gotten them from. If they don't have paperwork, and it is required, what would I need to do? Do y'all know anything about the regulations in Arkansas? I'm not the only one where I live with geese, and they've never been checked for paperwork. If y'all could, let me know if I missed something and what I should do.

800-364-4263 Arkansas Game and Fish, they're not open till Monday. Canada Geese are covered under the migratory bird act and it's illegal to keep wild caught geese. You need something that shows it's not wild caught or they'll make a stink and fine you. Just call and ask anonymously what permit you need. If the people that had the parents received them from a hatchery, they received paperwork showing they are domestic and not wild caught geese.
