This is happening in Xishuangbanna in Yunnan in southern China ..... all summer long !
Dozens of buses arrive every hour full of tourists ... the dancer throws rice into the grass ... the peacocks arrive from everywhere ... they are hungry!

An hour later, the tourists left ...!

Get out of here ! ... we have no more need of you here !

Unfortunately, this scenairo is played out all over the world, not just in China. Animals being exploited for human gain, it's sad but true.

There are videos of this place on YouTube. They call the peacocks using a whistle to let them know it is time for food and then the peacocks fly over the lake and to the shore where they are fed. In some videos, a few of the peacocks are displaying but most of them have messed up train feathers that are all broken off. Being free-range I figured they would have enough space for their train but perhaps tourists are breaking off their feathers?! Also, there is an area where they have around 5 peacocks all tethered and guests sit down and are handed the peacock to hold for a photo op.

I always wondered how there could be so many peacocks yet so few peahens...In each video and picture I would only see just a handful of hens.
