So last week I went to buy feed, and I saw a silkie so I bought her and 5 other chicks (6 chick min)

The next day I went back for something else??? and they had red broilers for 25 cents each. They were 3 weeks ? So I bought 15.

Took them home and put the brooder in my house. (don't have heat source for outside)

Today I went there and bought more bedding and they had more silkies.$2.99 each,

and cornishX chicks for 25cents. Thank God they only had 10 left. I bought them all.

They are 2 weeks old. I put them in with the red broilers and they are smaller but seem to all get along..

I bought 4 more silkies and put them in with my 1st one.

I told my husband before we even went in the store DO NOT let me buy more chicks. I apparently have a problem. Don't be an enabler.

If my tractor supply had silkies cheap, I could be in trouble. I have no silkies, but they are so cute! Our TSC had the same deal on red ranger broilers, but hubby didn't want to do a big butcher and wouldn't let me get more than 8. *pout*

They are in a big rubbermaid bin in the spare bathroom tub. We still have some snow on the ground and freezing nights here and there, so I didn't want to brood them in the barn for a few more weeks.

How are your red broilers doing?
Mine are growing like weeds, so are the white X.
My silkies are alive and well, but are not pure breed.

Ugh! 1 has clean legs , and out of the 5, only 1 has a poof head. The ones that have feathered feet are barely feathered.

I haven't been to TSC in almost 3 weeks. I bet they think I died. I've been sending DH without me. Heck they were ready to start charging me rent.

My reds are massive. We put them outside almost two weeks ago now. I can't believe how much they eat! They are at least 4x the size of my other chicks that are roughly the same age that I wouldn't dream of putting outside yet! They have finally grown back all the feathers on their undersides that had been burned off by sitting in the filthy bins at TSC. Poor chicks. They were bald on the bottoms.

Do you hear TSC whispering in your sleep
"Come to me!

Good deal for older birds, as they've been cared for for a couple of weeks! Free feed, and free electricity that you did not need to provide. That's assuming that the chicks are in good health.
