We sometimes let our chickens free-range in our garden. However, since I was pregnant last year our garden is really more of a weed jungle! My hubby picked up some "people and pet safe" weed/grass killer that we thought we could spray over the turf areas and then mulch over it to get a jump on the weeds for this year. But I got to thinking that since the chickens scratch around it might not be the best. They're not used to free-ranging daily so I planned on keeping them in for a bit after spraying. I've posted a pic of the ingredients list.

Thoughts? Advice? Other products??

You might do just as well with vinegar. As for the safety of either product, it depends on how much you use. Hopefully not enough to change the pH of your soil. Are you turning that turf area into a garden? If so, you can accomplish the same thing by laying down some cardboard followed by mulch.
