although one neighbors think they are fleas, they do not jump around like fleas but do kinda look like them though maybe a bit smaller. Getting around the face of the birds a lot. I had in the past used frontline since we have dogs. Also was told Ivermectin, although I found it ineffective. Was wondering about the Eprinex, since they mention no down time in harvesting eggs. Was thinking of a total dose of 50 cc with a 1/2 dose over two days. How long should I expect before I start to see this stuff working?
 
You can treat her with diatomaceous earth. Just take some and rub it around your chickens body. Or you can put it in her food.

DE isn't going to treat sticktight fleas, nor will it treat mites or lice.

A few things....

1) It's the same type of drug so this probably applies: "Products based on macrocyclic lactones (e.g. ivermectin) used at the therapeutic dose will not control fleas, neither as injectables, nor as pour-ons, drenches, or feed additives." 2) It's not approved for use in laying hens, so it does have a withdrawal, probably the same as ivermectin.

3) 50 cc? 1/2 a dose over 2 days? The most you would want to give a five pound chicken would be 0.45 ml.

Sevin (carbaryl) is no longer approved for use in poultry, and in many parts of the country the Norther Fowl Mite is resistant to it, but if that's all that one can get it would be better than not treating.

True it would be better than nothing, definitely better than DE... Its what I have used since I've had chickens and never had a problem with anything bug related. Granted I don't use it all the time just when I do a deep clean or every couple of months to prevent. I surely haven't heard of it not being approved for poultry anymore. :( Guess I better use something else now.
