My pet rooster randomly turned on me!!

I have a 3 year old buff Orpington rooster. We more less adopted him a year ago. He only likes me, like he likes me alot always wants me to hangout with him on the deck. Well ever since he accidently got injured two weeks ago from attacking my husband his chest met his steal toed boots. Well he has his days now where he wants to attack me for absolutely no reason! Is he mad because he is in pain possibley? Or has he just lost his mind?

He is my pet I don't kill chickens and have no desire to do so. So that's out of the question lol my feelings are hurt. Feels like my beloved dog turned on me but it's my crazy rooster !! Last summer he had a few crazy spells but I broke him of that with a water gun. But this time he don't care and acts like he is out of his mind! What the heck?!
 
He has two hens. Lol kikisgirls does that mean he is a typical rooster then? Im still pretty new to chickens. He is my first rooster ever.

I'm going to say yes.
I had the nicest roosters once...
I had them since they were day old fluffy butts...handled them often...
Then one day..they attack.

I know there is a thread her that explains rooster behavior to a T.
Had I come across that thread, before I rehired one of them, I would still have two.

I am going to look for it....bbiaf.
 
I would be interested in seeing that thread myself should I come across some issues with my 3 silkie roosters. Culling them is never an option for me either since they are such beautiful boys and so sweet and I raised the little dudes.
 
There are several threads here about roosters, and Beekissed has a good article about managing their behavior. In general, sometimes attitude adjustments work, but more often, that little brain can't change enough. Only idiots attack the huge individuals bringing food! Your boy is going to be dangerous; maybe better for a while, but then attack again. At least never have children around him! Mary
