Hi guys I have a 2 year old hen and this morning she didn't want to come out of the nest box so I thought she might be ill as she always comes out immediately. I took her out and her feathers were all fluffed up. Her crop was quite full and doughy as well but she seemed to want to eat and drink so I let her. She did some huge wet poops this morning but after about an hour they have gone more normal but still quite big and she has something white all around her bum. She has gone back in the nest box and I gave her an egg to sit on in case she was broody and she stood up and pushed in underneath her and sat back down and fluffed up. Her chest is also pretty bare. Pls help because I don't know if she's sick. Thank you for reading this xx

Sound like you've got a 'clocker' (broody hen) on your hands

. Either give her some fertile eggs to hatch or try to break her bloodiness.

Yup

yes , to me totally no worries about her health , that is a broody ! all symptoms fit exactly that what happened to my hens if they got broody too , really love that egg thing :)) , the way she pushes it under her body , knowing it has to be handled gently , so lovely !

good luck if you are going to have her hatch :)

Thank you I'm so happy she's hopefully not ill. I don't really want a broody right now so does anyone know how to stop her?

Welcome to BYC!

If you don't want her to hatch out chicks, best to break her broodiness promptly.
My experience went like this: After her setting for 3 days and nights in the nest, I put her in a wire dog crate with smaller wire on the bottom but no bedding, set up on a couple of 4x4's right in the coop and I would feed her some crumble a couple times a day.

I let her out a couple times a day(you don't have to) and she would go out into the run, drop a huge turd, race around running, take a vigorous dust bath then head back to the nest... at which point I put her back in the crate. Each time her outings would lengthen a bit, eating, drinking and scratching more and on the 3rd afternoon she stayed out of the nest and went to roost that evening...event over, back to normal tho she didn't lay for another week or two.
Water nipple bottle added after pic was taken.
