Does anyone know what is wrong with our little chick?

I think coccidiosis is unlikely, as it's a bit early yet for that to become an issue. Based on my reading, that would normally hit between 4 and 6 weeks.

BUT, I'm too inexperienced to tell you for sure. If it is cocci, be sure you're giving it at a dose to cure it, rather than prevent it. Two different dosages, for two different situations.

You can make sure they aren't exposed to drafts, have a place to get warm and a place to escape the heat, have plenty of clean water, and food that meets their needs.

After that, it's hard being a chick. I had one that was the runt of the bunch. Always real small, wasn't as active. He's now the biggest bird in the flock. Rather pleased with himself, too. On the other hand, I had another die after one day.

Based on what I'm seeing in the pics by OP, those chicks are over heated. I see several of them hunkered down with wings spread. This could be the cause of deaths, as the weakest chicks would be the first to succumb. And yes, shedding of intestinal lining is a normal process. You don't see it frequently, but it can be seen, and if the birds are active and eating and drinking well, then all is well. Keep the bedding dry. Provide plenty of room and all should be well. I would ask OP how much room in the brooder. If they have a heat lamp, it's possible that they don't have enough room to get away from the heat to self regulate.

The chicks have plenty of space - they were just resting in the picture. Unfortunately, the little chick who wasn't growing passed away. :(

All the other chicks are doing great and we don't anticipate any other issues. She must have just been weaker from birth and had some internal issues before we got her. Someone mentioned to us that Welsummers are an older breed that has been around a long time and that sadly sometimes they just have issues.

Thank you all for trying to help!
