Advice on building my coop

I think I am sold on the kennel idea. There aren 't any used ones on craigslist yet but the new ones aren't much more.

The shed I am buying used is like this one: https://www.google.com/shopping/pro...GgnqHcQAyybx6KBD4qy2W9GGYG5LiRXHpUaApFh8P8HAQ

I'm in the South and it gets HOT. Would have to ad more ventilation definitely. I have pickle buckets was going to use for the nests. I am with you about not attaching it to the walls but have something, like shelving, for it.

I have been enjoying this thread. Recently put corrugated plastic/ fiberglass roof on my pvc portable coop. Self tapping screws are phenomenal! Wish I knew about them a couple years ago. Working on couple of feeders using pvc pipe and the screws hold tight.

Appreciated the reminder that the skirt does not have to be buried. I' still tempted to put the hardware cloth oVery the dirt floor of my small coop's run. Mine is condo style - coop on top, run on bottom. Sand will be over the dirt.

What kind of predators dig deep???

I know in my area, south, coons are the diggers. I found out from supply store that they won't go to too much trouble. I found out the foxes around here will climb a fence over digging under. I am worried about the occasional stray dog. They could damage the pen if not worse.
I checked out the plastic sheds on display and they were hot inside. If I go that route would need ventilation on all sides so I don't bake them during summer heat.
I have tin roofing and lumber around the house but I am not sure I could build something sturdy.
I have buckets, free, that I will use for their roosting area.
I checked out the kennels and really like them. The seem like I could easily modify it w skirting on bottom and netting on top.
