Poulin Grain??

Countries where soy is consumed more, people live longer healthier lives, so I do wonder where the no soy thing came from. Maybe someone will let us both know.

Only countries that eat fermented soy. The way America eats soy, a waste product added to EVERYTHING is probably not healthy. We are inundated with soy when much of it was once a waste product (oil etc.). Just a heads up.

Thanks for all the info, everyone! Both about the feed and the soy. This has been a very interesting discussion. :D

And about the way we eat it/it being a waste product, yeah, same with corn. They make so many things out of it (it being corn) and add those products to everything and it's no longer healthy. Might have been but now it's a chemical. The same is true with drugs. The actual plant they are mads from surely isn't producing those effects (the highs & such associated with drugs) but you process it and it becomes something completely different and not even recognizable - a drug.

Either way, this whole thing is really interesting

Edited to make everything clearer.

I'm sorry but your assessment that soybean meal is nothing more than a "Chemical" or a "Drug" is just not correct. Soybean meal is a great source of amino acids for livestock, especially chickens and pigs. Don't fall for the unsupported, anti-ag, anti-science, hyperbole put forth by people with an agenda to scare the American Public.

Sorry, I wasn't saying soy was a chemical or drug. I was just using that as an example to say how Cindy had a good point/something to think about and in that particular paragraph I was referring to corn products.

Oh wait and also with the drug thing is was referring to actual drugs not saying corn was a drug. I realize now i wasnt exactly that clear I'll edit the post.

I'm not going to jump in on the soy conversation, but I also just picked up two bags of feed at Morrison's in Plymouth and they are carrying Poulin. My birds took right to it. I usually feed them Nutrena, but I couldn't make it to TSC so I got this instead.

We're about 2/3 of the way through the first bag and everyone is acting normal, no change in egg production.

Completely understandable, the thread was originally about feed anyway :D

But yeah, Morrison's is actually where I got mine! Haha

My birds seem to have taken to it too although I did just get it so might be too early to tell :)

TSC doesn't carry the Hearty Hen which is partly why I like Morrison's but also they're just friendlier and more knowledgeable. Although the Plympton TSC the people are pretty nice

I think this is unfair. I have a degree in meteorology and believe in the scientific method. You are fine to have your opinion, but we can put forth our differing opinions without being labeled as anti-science. There's plenty of studies out there showing soy's estrogen mimicking effects, and I'm sure you can find some studies out there where it is beneficial in some ways. We're always learning and rewriting the science books based on new information.
