Blood in faeces

After a trip to the vet today it's not looking good for the bantam with the dirty vent. I bathed her yesterday, applied some canesten cream and for the next 3 hours she strained and screamed. The vet said she felt warm, her abdomen felt hard and she was in pain. They put her on a xray plate and said it looks like she has pieces of eggshell inside her and might have egg Peritonitis. She offered antibiots or to put her to sleep so I'm going to try her on the antibiotics and hopefully she pulls through. She seems better again today, at the moment she's dust bathing. She stopped straining last night and hasn't done it since but I'm still worried about her
very sorry to hear this, good luck

Here's a update for anyone interested. On day 3 of the antibiotics she laid a soft shell egg and prolapsed quite badly, I rushed her to the vets and they cleaned her and put it back in but the vet said if it happened again she recommended euthanizing.

I made the shed as dark as possible but let her out in the days for 6 hours and she seemed happy for the next week or so but unfortunately on Saturday she prolapsed again but it was a lot worse, she was ejecting yolk and kept pushing. After spending time looking after her I decided I couldn't go to the vets with her as they would be putting her to sleep. The vet said it was the worst he'd seen and guaranteed it would happen again within 14 days, we couldn't afford any surgery so sadly she was put to sleep :(

I don't know what was going on inside her and I wish I'd done more to help her.
