Hey guys,

Is my speckled sussex a boy? It was bought as a sexed pullet at 3 days old and is now 4.5 weeks. I've read every thread about how difficult it is to sex this breed. As you can see from the photos it has a very white chest, a very big red comb and wattles (for its age, and as compared to the other chicks), it has a completely different body shape from the other pullets (it's smaller and taller), and it was very slow to feather and has almost no tail except for some feathers that stick straight up.

I feel like I'm telling you it's a rooster. I guess I'm looking for opinions and would love to hear if anyone had a SS that looked like this at 4 weeks that turned out to be a hen. This is my only SS.

Thanks!

Thank you for the replies. Ugh, of course he's probably a rooster--he's the nicest and calmest one we have, so of course he's the one we don't get to keep! So, would I just be deluding myself to think there is any chance it could turn out to be a hen? We are not allowed roosters.
