Most broody hen

I have a little Dutch Bantam who lays about eight to twelve eggs and then stops and wants to hatch. It drives me nuts because I feel so bad taking them. I have heard that dunking a hen in ice cold water and keeping her away from the nesting boxes for a few days helps. You can also keep her in a cage elevated off the floor with no bedding but food and water until she lays an egg or at least four days. Or you can donate services to your neighbors and friends like I have who want to start a flock or want more hens. Most Bantams are prone to turning very broody. I'm glad I've only got one!!

Our barred rocks are really broody in the flock. They will yell and peck you if you put your hand in the nesting box to get the eggs. Whether as The buff orpington doesn't care when you pick her up to reach under and get them.

My one hen is being so broody. I'm worried about her not taking care of herself. What's the best way to get her out of the nest?

Elevated wire cage with food and water but no bedding.
You can try putting her in a broody breaker cage. A wire dog crate that has room for the hen, food and water works great for this (at least that's what I've read from some experienced chicken keepers here). Elevate the cage a bit so her belly can cool down, and leave her in there for a few days.
