I just bought this baby chick and my family and I were wondering why it's neck looks like this. We believe it has to do with a disease or lice/parasites. Any info is appreciated

Welcome!

I hope the folks on the ER Forum are able to assist. I was just wondering though, do you know what breed it is? It is not a naked neck is it?

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Did it look like this when you bought it? I ask because it looks like a naked neck chicken, and that is how they are supposed to look

Can you post a photo of the front of the bird, is the neck bare there also? Please put "show girls "in the search box and see if your chick matches them. Your chick looks like a silkie (breed) the naked neck variety of silkie is called "show girls," and birds of either sex are still called showgirls.

Are you referring to the position of its neck, or the nakedness? If the position is what you are worried about, you should go to the ER forum. If the naked neck is the problem, Drumstick Diva gave you some good advice.
