Well, here we are about 6 weeks out with the hatchlings. They are growing like weeds, we have had them in the house in an open cage. We have been feeding Chick Chow and water. At 6 weeks we change the papers in the incubator about 4 times a day. I have a couple questions, I have already Googled, but I would like some expert advice here.
- We have been keeping the warming light on 24x7. As I said they live in another room inside the house. When should we start turning the warming lights out at night?
- When should we take them out to the coop and start acclimating them to the 2 other grown chickens?
- We were forced to buy a 50lb bag of chick feed. I assume, that once the birds have moved out permanently to the chick coop, we can start feeding them regular diet. Can we feed any leftover Chick Feed as a mixer or supplement to the regular feed we are currently using, for all the chickens?
- And a bonus question; Why do these chicks lay down on their side, with their heads sometimes laying on the other chicks. Its the funniest thing to see.
