Hi! So, my Australorp Peppa stepped on my foot yesterday and it really hurt.

I looked at her feet and her nails were really long. Then I looked at my other girl's feet and they also had really long claws. Do I have to cut their claws, or will my chickens just file them down on their own?

Thanks!

If they do get too long, yes. You dont want them to get to long and begin curling, they can get snagged. If they have dirt and things to scratch for, they usually stay filed down.

Quote: Yep, that will work...BUT.....be very careful.
If you've ever clipped dogs nails you probably know the risks of cutting too short and the copious bleeding that can occur.
If not, read up on it and get some blood stop powder(or corn starch) before proceeding.
