Hi,
new to BYC forums.

After thinking for a while i have decided id like to keep a pair or trio of peafowl (whatever quantity works best).
Willing to invest the time and money so i have decided to build an aviary.

Id like to know what are the measurements to house these birds comfortably. ( i was thinking around a 25 x 25 aviary 10 ft high) but not sure if this is enough .so i thought id ask around.

I can provide space up to 40 x 40 but id prefer under 30 ft if possible.
Id also like to house a pair of red golden pheasants with them if possible


Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I haven't raised pheasants so I don't know how well they'll behave together. 25'x25'x10' would be good. My pens have a 16'x14'x8' coop and a 16'x12'x8' run. My one pen has a trio and the other has a pair. Someday I want to change it to a 20'x20'x12' coop and a run that is 32'x20'x12'. That is a future plan though.
 
Minimum of 75 sq feet per bird. Pens should be at least 7-8 feet wide so the males can display properly without snagging their feathers. As for keeping them and goldens together I have tried it a few times and it didn't end well. Goldens are very peaceful and don't like to fight whereas peafowl are more aggressive. I ended up having to move my goldens when breeding season started because the peas were harassing them. Silvers in my experience tend to hold their own better but it's still best to have a brush pile they can hide in if the peas are bothering them. Thing with silvers though is they can also be extremely aggressive themselves so it can be a toss up.
