Hello all.

Last Friday, the 28th my mom said she saw my EE, Hen Brownie bobbing her head and neck.Me, not knowing much about Crop stuff, agreed with my mom that she must have had a piece of stone or feed in her throat. But, then I started reading. She had symtoms of Sour/Impacted Crop.We tipped her over to make her throw up, and it was FOUL smelling!
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Easter Egger Hen, She will be 2 years old on June 10th.She feels same.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. A little it lethargic, Hard/firm crop, soft in some parts. She does the head bobbing neck jerking thing, a lot.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? When I first saw it, It was last Friday, the 28th, But my mom said she saw the neck jerking thing a couple days before that.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. Not broken, injury or bleeding. She is very stressed though. She pants sometimes.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. It's my falt.I used Hay in the Run and gave them ripped up grass from the lawn.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. She has been eating some Watermelon, a bit of Yougurt, a TEENSY bit of grit yesterday(Whitch I just started giving)She will not drink on her own, Ive been using a syringe and giving her water with that.Half hour ago, I gave her some Oregino Oil Water.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Sometimes very watery and runny, other normal, other it's not dry, but not runny.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Massging her crop, lots of water, grit
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I have a vet, but he isn't Avain. If it comes to the point I really need surgery on her, I will call and see if he will do it.I am truly hoping I can cure this myself.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.Do you need one?
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use Right now, since Friday she has been inside.Roaming the house in the day, and in a dog kennel with old towels at night. But when she was in the coop/run, there was pine shavings inside the coop, and *gulp* Hay in the run....

Last night my mom thought she was going to die, she was bobbing her head and neck so much.
Right now Brownie(my hen)Is downstairs with my mom.

Am I doing the right thing? What else can Ido?What should I do?!

I don't want to loose her!She is my beloved pet. Most of all, She is my sisters faveroite chicken that is still alive!

Apple Cider vinegar in water. The unfiltered unprocessed kind. Bragg's makes a very good brand but our local grocery store makes their own brand too. Will help if the crop is sour also aids digestion and helps maintain digestive health. About 2 Tbsp per gallon of water should help. I never measure it but some do.

I read The Chicken Chick's Article, and she said NO ACV for Sour Crop.

Apple cider vinegar works very well when I have any problem with my chickens.

This has never happened to me before, so I can't give you a lot of advice. Is she weak? Here is a link that I hope will help you:

CV should be unfiltered and contain the "mother" works wonders for balancing beneficial bacteria in crop and whole digestive system. In my experience, it works for lots of chickens issues, including sour crop, due to their health and immunity are greatly impacted by their digestive system. It helps their bodies naturally take care of itself. You should stop food if you havnt ready.

She is a little slowly, but I wouldn't say Weak.
Ok, I'm going to tell my mom to take her off all solid food, only yogurt, crushed egg, and water.
Hi, my girl had a very very bad crop issue but it was caused from internal laying and the "eggs" were
pushing up on her crop.
The vet did surgery on her crop and it was extrememly full he took the grit out small things and
a big mass of rotten material.
Some people use olive oil. Like you a lot of water.
I looked at the pictures of your belated what happened to Harriet?
I love leghorns.
Thanks.
