current price of eggs!?

I was selling mine for $3.00 /dz, but around here good farm eggs in the store go for more than that. If you have certified organic eggs, you can get $5.00. I decided to sell mine for $4.00/dz this year. I sell mostly to people I know, $4.00 is all I need to cover my expenses and a little extra to pay bills; my price will still be below store price for equivalent quality eggs.
I am a farmer and make my living on what I grow, raise and otherwise produce. I don't need to rip people off.!! but I do need to make ends meet.
 
My free range, grass fed/organic milo fed/fish fed, eggs sold to a health food store for $3.25 and he charged the public $3.89. I could not supply the eggs fast enough, the public went crazy over them. Sadly, my chickens met a fate with the coyotes, while I was on vacation, and now we are rebuilding my hen herd.
 
The local grocery store sells them for $1.79 a doz
Farmers market are $3 a doz
mine are $2 a doz
 
Do you wash your eggs before you sell them? My chickens have had dirty feet this winter and often the shells are dirty. I hate to sell them that way. The nests are clean but they have had to stay in the coop several days due to the extreme cold we have had. Thanks
