I have now added pics of my chickens to my screen savers on the computers in my operatories so that when my patients have to wait for me, they get to see pictures of my chickens.

Many seem very interested in putting hens in their backyards, not knowing that it was even legal to do in Phoenix.

I probably send four or five patients a week to come to BYC to check us out.

I have some of my patients that just love it a couple call me.... "Dr. D- my Chicken Farmer-Dentist!"

"Fresh eggs are nice. I was raised on a large farm, where my Grandmother raised chickens for meat and eggs, and now that my husband and I live in the country we have free range chickens for eggs.
However, these are not pets. Contrary to what some posters on here think, Chickens are dirty and nasty. Their pooh can also be toxic if inhaled and masks and gloves should be worn when cleaning up after them. If you get pecked or scratched by one clean the wound immediately and watch for signs of infection. I think Mr. Ludlow has good intentions, but because you have raised a "few" chix does not make him an expert. "

I think gloves and masks are a little overkill I wear a tee shirt jeans and crocks when i clean mine out. and as for being pecked if I had to go and sterilize my hands after each time I was pecked I would be no better off than I am now. I had a hen who when around I had to cross my arms or put my hand in my pockets because she would jump to bite your hand.

Some people need to come see a BYC chicken coop and chickens don't you guys agree.
