11/12. One brown leghorn took root in the nest box for 45 minutes. She rolled the pink golf ball around and fluffed the bedding few times. When she was done playing "house", she hopped out of the nest box, and sang the egg song. But there was NO EGG. :rolleyes

I finally got 2 eggs today! Out of the silkie pen, weird! So 2 out of 10 layers, and 2 pullets still too young to lay.

Just heard the fourth song of the day (5 hens total), but someone laid from the roost and it was broken.  Must've been a line for the boxes this morning!  So, it will be three instead of four.  Hopefully they are starting to pick back up from moult/winter.

Full-time (and then some!) Wife and Mom to DH and 2 boys, part-time Registered Nurse..lucky enough to move to the country!
Now owned by: 1 Rhode Island Red, 2 Gold Sex-Links, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Barred Rock and the Cat....

6 from 9 today

One big messy, noisy flock...   Roughly 15 older members, 8 EE babies, 10 Cuckoo marans ( 10+ FBCM coming in April), 20 +  Alohas.  Yikes!  Chicken math strikes again ;)
