I did not weigh it. Like I said it looks bigger than it is because my son is holding it. It was misshapen, along with its size that is what I was trying to show everyone. It came from an Easter Egger. She was a feed store bird so when I bought her they said she was an EE I can't explain her egg color... She has been only laying about a week so I guess she is just figuring things out. I am hoping her sisters will be laying soon since they were hatched in April and then I have a purebred Americana hatched in May.

I used to live next door to a girl who worked on a farm and she brought me the crazist eggs you ever saw that they could not hatch. also warning my father-in-law used to eat 2 double yolk eggs every day untill yearly phy..and dr told him he was on verge of a stroke...lol...too muchof a good thing is bad for you.

Purebred Ameraucana or Americana?

If it is the former, it can be purebred, if the latter, it is an Easter Egger. (LOVE my 2 EEs!)

6 from 12 today and they were stuck in the coop. No one around most of the day. Poor babies.

Jim White- A question. Are you the same guy who used to raise Gold Comets? Do you totally replace your flock at each molt? 11 out of 35 hens here. 15 new pullets, 1 roo and 20 gals from 2-4 years old.

Well I didn't collect eggs for 3 days and I ended up with 6 eggs. So now I know that I have at least 2 hens that are laying. One I have been waiting and waiting on may have started. I keep finding eggs in weird places all of a sudden 2 so it might be her. But it is more likely that it is just the 2 I am used to, although one egg was a tiny bit larger than usual, but I think that happens.

It could happen. Just remember, Pluto used to be a planet.

I've gotten 7/7 the last two days in a row. I know this can't last, but I guess the days have gotten long enough for the girls to be back in production!

Woo Hoo! wee.gif

Owned by 2 grown offspring, 2 spoiled cats (Albert and Stanley), and 7 (correction: 10; chicken math, ya know) silly biddies: Blanche, Clara Cluck, Dorothy, Olivia, Miss Prissy, Agnes, Edwina, Eunice, Ruby and Bernice, who fill my basket with gorgeous multicolored eggs.
