I am having an issue with thin brittle eggs shells. I expect such things in my old girls but not my youngsters that are not quite a year old.

They get a 17% Layer ration, and I mix a higher protein and calcium mixture in their feed to make a hot porridge in the mornings, they also get oyster shell.

I have started giving calcium tablets to those I know of, that are laying brittle eggs. A couple of the older ladies one of whom I know is laying eggs still (my BR), and a couple of the youngsters whom I have caught laying odd eggs.

I think it has helped the BR and my silkie Marty who’s eggs are good now.
 
Yesterday, 5 good eggs plus one that was broken in the nest.

And today, 5. So far, anyway. And that brings the total good eggs laid this year up to 600, an average of 5.6 eggs per day from the 7 girls.
