Time to get some laws changed!  Delaware has such a rich agricultural history, it makes sense to allow birds within it's limits.  I've been up to the fairgrounds to sell racehorses, and the town doesn't seem too fancy for a few friendly fowl D

It's been a while since I posted. But my name is Sarah and I am in Central Ohio. I have Buckeyes (bantam and LF), Buff Orpingtons, and some EE's. I don't live inside and city limits but in a township. Not sure what our rules are but one of my neighbors has chickens, a pig, and some cows on his 3 acres so I figure I am ok with a few chickens on my 2 acres.

I'm new to the site, and I'm in southwestern OH.  Clermont county to be exact.  I live in the suburbs, but in my township I can have as many chickens as I  can fit on my property.  We have 3 hens and 1 rooster now, and 35 eggs in the incubator, and 12 more on order.   Not sure what I'm going to do with all of them, but can't seem to stop myself.

4 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 3 fish tanks, 10 hermies, 6 fiddlers, a coop of banties, 1 dragon, 1 hubby, 1 job....NO TIME

Hello from Hiram Township, Northern Portage county.  After just over 1 year of experience, I am now addicted.  11 Barred Rock hens laying away, on our 4th batch of meaties, 6 Golden Buff females just 2 weeks old.   The excitement of bringing home a box of day-old chicks or looking at a freezer full of fresh meat or holding freshly laid eggs still warm to the touch....somebody help me....tongue

Hi all!
I'm Mary, from Tallmadge (a suburb of Akron, in Summit Co.).  We (myself, DH, and DD) are expecting our first four chicks (from mypetchicken.com) this coming week - two buff orps and two red stars.  Then next Monday the 12th I'm going to Meyer Hatchery to pick up four more - a speckled sussex, a welsumer, a barred rock, and an easter egger.  Can you tell I like variety, lol!

Anyway, I would love to meet chicken people in the area!  Now I'm going to go read some of this thread and see if I can find any.

Good morning,

I'm from north-western Holmes County.  Right now I have one frizzle cochin rooster and a polish hen.  Had 2 call ducks (??) and will be replacing them as soon as I run additional hardware cloth along the lower 3 feet of the run so nothing can reach in and grab them (ugh).

I'd consider anyone within a 2 hour drive "close" to me, since to get anywhere is at least 30 minutes.

Nice to know so many poultry people are around!cool

I love Holmes County...my soul feels at peace when I travel throughout Holmes County.  I think it's the large Amish presence.  I agree about the distance thing...we consider people neighbors if they are within a 10 mile radius big_smile  Happy Easter!
