OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Yeah, that was me. I currently have a paired mallard ducks that swing by our pond, so I keep a look out for a nest.
There have been times I have wanted to get rid of my Mallard Drake. He was supposed to be a runner from Rural King but does not have the white ring around his neck but is beautiful. He is less than a year old. It's hard to rehome drakes. He likes to chase my Mule Duck around and she constantly has to hide from him. That's the reason I have thought about sending him down the road.

I don't understand what the problems are with keeping drakes and/or roosters. They are just instinctively living out their lives the only way they know how. That's why I have no issues taking in drakes/roosters.

I totally agree but when he chases her constantly and she has to hide on something high off of the ground to get away from him I just feel bad for her. He is being better with her right now and I know this is instinct for him, I just hate when they have a favorite out of a bunch of hens and pester it so badly. I am glad that you can take them in and have no issues. I do have a large pen and here lately he has been better with her. If she could free range on acreage things would be better I am sure but I am not setup that way unfortunately.

Yeah I agree...the more room they have to roam, the easier a hen can get away from an overactive rooster/drake.
