ok so I've been working on another watering system for my brooder. I'll separate these new borns into my inside brooder for a few days to get them up to strength, so I need another waterer. I'll move this one to the big outside brooder when the weather gets to where I can move some out there.
BUT I wanted to thank Tobascco Jack for showing us his 'through the bucket' technique! I've been playing around and modified it just a tad, changing the main TTB piece and eliminating a few pieces in doing so.
I'm using a 1/2" PVC male/female threaded nipple through the bucket. I put the o-rings over it on both sides, then used the electrical box nut on the inside. This allowed me to screw the barbed nipple straight into the female side of that nipple, attach a piece of hose to it and run that to my pipe with the nipples. For that, I'll be using (not made yet because I wanted to make sure the bucket didn't leak, so far good to go) another of the threaded barbs, threaded into a female nipple. The other side of the female nipple will be glued to a piece of 1/2 PVC. I'll go a short piece, a T another short piece and an elbow, facing down the same direction as the bottom of the T. Short piece glued into the bottom of the L and the T, then a cap glued on to that. Then drill the hole in the center of the cap and screw in the chicken water nipple.
here's a pic of the bucket end, soon as I finish this cup of coffee, I'll go put the other pieces together and get some pics of the whole thing. The bucket is sitting on the tail gate of my truck checking it for leakage, and soon as I'm done with everything, I'll pour the water out and take a pic of the inside
