There is no way to tell if your eggs are fertile by candling an egg straight from the nest. You tell by: 1) Watch your rooster do his thing and with who. 2) One visit from Mr. Rooster is good for 2 weeks. 3) Crack an egg open and look at the yoke, all eggs have a little white dot on the yoke, but the fertile egg has another ring around the little white dot....looks like a bulls eye. Like I said, one visit from rooster will make fertile eggs for about two weeks. 4) Incubate the eggs and after 7-10 days, candle them for veins. Those are fertile.
Thanks. They are duck eggs and if you just watched what i just watched i am VERY confident these eggs are fertile. Little nasties.
LOL!.. You should have seen the duck orgy that occurred at our place yesterday. We think there were 2 females at the bottom of the pile that included 4 or 5 males. I'm not sure any of them knew for certain who exactly was getting fertilized.
