anyone ever order from Purely Poultry?

My chicks are shipping today from Purely Poultry. I am on diligent standby for the post office call , and will prob call them tomorrow as a heads up. I know "it happens" but I hope I have no dead ones.

Anyone have any tips for immediate care for them after they arrive that will increase survival chances? Post office is less than a mile from work so I can literally run over as soon as I get call and bring them home. I'm new to chickens so any tips are welcome and most appreciated.

Got 55 CX's on the 10th of August, lost 1 in the mail but they sent me 60... still 59 going strong no leg issues, good strong birds I'm completely satisfied with the order and plan on getting future orders from them!

I know this is old buy in case anyone ends up wanting to buy from them, I have a box coming from them now. I only begged my husband for 9 months to get ducks, he kept saying no way.
He decided to surprise me and ordered them as a Mother's Day present, 3 baby mallard ducks from Purely Poultry.

I asked him every day when it got close if they shipped yet but they moved the date, that happens, no big deal.

They shipped them out, sent us a shipping confirmation today. I pulled up tracking to see when they'd be here, they actually shipped them yesterday...ducks have been in a box since 11 am Wednesday and will not be delivered until Saturday by 8 pm! Well over their 48 - 72 hours safe zone. They shipped them regular priority mail 3 day instead of express 1-2 day for live animals. Chances are I'll have a box of dead ducks for my mothers day present.
Called the post office where it said they were to see if I could pay to send them express to give them a chance, post office couldn't even locate them but they can't change the speed once they've been sent. He was disgusted they sent them in regular mail, said those boxes get thrown off trucks 2000 at a time every stop they make

The most infuriating part is they chose to pay $9.98 (post office informed me) to ship them where they will most likely die, instead of $23 dollars to live in 100° heat. MY HUSBAND PAID $59.99 for the shipping charge! I wouldn't have ever paid that for $20 of ducks but he only got 3 so they charge that. Their policy says they will return money for dead birds, shipping does not get refunded. So they pocket $50 to send me dead birds basically.
After looking back at their website, they are careful to say that you'll have your chicks at your post office within 48 hours of getting your shipping confirmation, they failed to mention they'd be shipped the day before you find out about it anyway.
I have never been disgusted with a company before now, nor posted a bad review but this company should not be allowed to sell live animals, they obviously only care about the money they swindle from the suckers buying from them... My family included.

Soooo u got them or this is a premature post? I got an order of like 20 ducks pending with them... Hope it goes well!! 3 ducks is definitely a rough ride in the mail!! Gl and hopefully u fill us in!!

No, I just got the shipping confirmation today. Tracking shows Saturday by 8pm. I'm praying they make it against the odds. I had USPS on the phone over an hour, hoping they flag it or keep an eye on it.
Thank you for the good luck and I'll update when I get them. Hope your babies make it safe and sound. You may want to call and see which hatchery sends out the breed(s) you're getting, mine shows Metzer Farms Hatchery on the USPS label and going to their website gave more information. The website states they don't send express unless you request in advance... I didn't even know they were coming from them in California when he bought from PP from Wisconsin I believe so I certainly couldn't request it. They say it takes the same time for 2-3 day as the 1-2 day, which is dishonest at best. I run a business and ship both ways, plus Express mail doesn't run with all the everyday mail and standard packages getting thrown off trucks every stop like the post master told me today= safer handling.

I got them today by a big surprise, the post master at our small town post office was appalled at them being sent with regular mail 3 day priority instead of Express. He said he heard small cheeps but not lately, my husband opened them up and found them scared and shaking with soaking wet bedding in the box that had a tipped over white plastic cup that he said had to be filled with water? He got them home in 5 minutes and I got them fed and hydrated, they perked right up! 3 beautiful, alive babies!
I feel lucky, the post office delivered a box more than a day early (which NEVER happens) and they are well.
