Cayenne Pepper It Really Gets Those Hens Laying

So it worked? I want to try just this last 2 weeks my chooks have been laying about half of what they normally produce, except my one faithful mixed hen who lays every day like clockwork.

Does it have to be cayenne pepper or will any hot pepper do?

oh and does it have to be in liquid form or can I add the powdered pepper and maybe add it to the feed or water that way???
I dehydrate my hot peppers that I grow and use them for seasoning, so I would rather use my own than buy some from the store.

I really am going to have to try it

Yep it sure does work, Ive been doing it for the past year now. I use the red crused pepper you put on your food. I just put it in the feeder with their feed. I'll put in their feed for 2 maybe 3 days, then again in 2 to 3 weeks. I dont have a set amount I put in, just what I feel is enough, usually enough to be able to see it in the feed. ..................

Studies have been done since the early 1940's in Japan, the Caribbean and elsewhere.
While the feeding of hot peppers and vegetation containing high amounts of capsaicin does not seem to bother the hens the only benefit appears to be egg shell thickness. Egg production is NOT significantly effected. The influences of dietary red peppers on daily food intake are negligible in egg production and minimal in yolk color according to the Roche color fan. Adipose tissue weight was somewhat effected and suggests a winter diet of red peppers over 1% of total feed in cold climates may be adverse.
