The Best Material for Lining a Nest Box

Sand would not be appropriate for a nest box IMO - eggs when laid are wet and the sand would stick I'd imagine, plus it don't think the amount the nest box could hold would offer much cushion for the egg when it's laid.

I was wondering about it for the coop floor. I'm planning on pine shavings for nest boxes.

I'd been using sand & pine shavings combo in the coop for almost 4 yrs specially under the roosts cleans the poop droppings much easier. I use pine shavings in the nests.
