I think you should deliver them, Amy. You would love driving on State Park Rd again, and would really love seeing the house.

The original seven-3 Buff Orps, 2 SLW, and 1 Cuckoo Maran. Year two has found us with an additional 2 Splash Orps, 1 Black Orp, and hopefully, 1 Blue Orp and a Blue and a Black Copper Maran-still waiting to know for sure.I think our coop is full now!

Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.-Mark Twain

Holy Cow you guys put pages down faster than I can read them.  Course, I keep running out to check on the chicks.  My eldest son just wants to sit in the brooder and hold them jumpy.gif.  The he doesn't want to wash his hands...  He doesold.gif

Well since I made everyone stop talking.

Here are my chickens

IMG_0536.JPG

Rusty and the girls (course he has to keep them behind him, he is from the old country)

IMG_0545.JPG

Junior (Rusty's son)

IMG_0537.JPG

a little bit better shot of the girls

IMG_0525.JPG

The new chicks in the brooder.

IMG_0522.JPG

the mystery chick.

Sorry, don't know how to rotate the pictures.  Took them with my IPOD so the quality isn't that great.  One of these days I will remember to ask the wife where she hid the camera.

Rusty is our oldest at three years.  Junior and the girls are his kids.  Junior's mom was a RIR.  All our others got killed when the new neighbors moved in and decided they didn't need a fence for their dogs.  Took out 6 RIR and 4 EE (long story).

The fellow I got Rusty from said he is an "ameraucana"  any experts out there can tell from my fuzzy picture?  The girls are his kids they lay green eggs.  Their moms were "sex link EE" or RIR I got from the local feed store.  I think Junior's mom is RIR because his feet are yellow and the RIR had yellow feet, where as the "sex link EE" all had black feet like Rusty.  Course I know little to nothing about chicken gentics... how do I do that Punnett square again.

Oh and in the brooder 26 EE (the hatchery calls them Araucanas/Americanas).  With the caveat "Our Araucanas are recommended for egg laying color and ability and not for exhibition." also the 1 mystery chick.

smile.pngThats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sincerely,

He looks beautiful...so do the others! The chicks are sooo cute! Junior looks similar in shape to my Roo that I was told was Ameraucana also...but I have doubts...just not sure because I havent seen anything with his coloring. He has slate legs and muffs and silver/gray cape and tail...and a little rust in his wings. Here he is with the girls...the red one is my Comet:
