Oh....okay, hope he knows this so he will stay away from it!  big_smile.png  Kimberly, I have my eggs in the incubator.  It was a journey for them to get here but they're in there.

This has been a hard week.  My car broke down on Sunday (in the sleet and cold rain).  Monday I went to candle eggs in my #2 incubator and they were COLD!  I mean 74 degrees cold.  Both heating elements apparently went bad.  It has a back up element but it's not working either.  So I moved them over to incubator #1 but so far can't see any movement and I'm afraid I've lost them all. So I'm thankful that I was late getting your eggs and they weren't already in there.   Also, my hens aren't laying fast enough to fill my shipped egg orders.  Don't they know we need the money to buy their chicken food?  And now I'm pretending that I don't feel bad and not running a low grade fever.  Probably from being out in that sleet Sunday afternoon.   On a good note - my Sebastopol goose is laying!!  I'm thrilled not only to get the eggs but to finally know that I have a true pair.  I have 2 eggs so far but today she caught me stealing it out of her nest.  The look she gave me...those blue eyes cut right thru to my heart.

OH Sebbies!  YAY!  Give those hens a good talking to. I have four broodies. Well two definite ones, the other two cannot make up their mind.  One of the two definite ones kept knocking a rock that looks just like an egg off the top of the nest box and sitting on it!  Silly birds. I gave them almost 2 dozen eggs today  ;)

How long had the incubator been out? Any idea? Hopefully they will pull through!

Is there anyone in the Midlands that can come and cull some roosters for me?

Must be the yucky weather last night making everyone move slow this morning. I'm e, but only because Inam about to head out to work. I am trying to figure out why the girls slowed down on their laying in the last 2 weeks. We had gotten up to 5-7 eggs a day from the 7 of them. We were using a light from 4-7 in the morning. When the timer messed up, Lou tried not using it since the days were getting longer. That was about 4 weeks ago. The one other possibility is this last time I picked up Dumor laying feed for them instead of Southern States. They seem to throw out more than they eat. They have been on it about three 1/2 weeks. I am really wondering if it might be the feed more that anything. We are picking up more of the Southern States this weekend and will be smart enough to get two bags this time.it isn't as easy to find around here, but I like the size of the crumbles and you can tell it is just a better quality.

Pit doesn't seem to be any one hen laying less. Just no one laying as regularly. They spoiled us in the beginning.

3 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 1Cuckoo Marans, and 1 Ameraucana. Think there may be room for two more and starting to dream...

I have been awake since 3:30 and am not looking forward to this morning...rant.gif I have changed outfits 7 times  barnie.gif which means I am off to a grouchy start already. Even after all the coffee!

Sorry about your incubator! But yay on the eggs! I'd love to get some if you ever have any extras. They are so beautiful!

Glad she's feeling better! Why have you changed outfits so many times and it's not even 8 am?

Really looking forward to the beautiful weather today! Had a rough night of sleep since Annaliese was in our bed almost all night. Those darn storms! I'll be so glad when we have the house and she can relax.

I have a customer driving with her 4 children today 3 1/2 hours each way to buy one silkie. People crack me up! Of course, she thinks she's only buying one silkie. How can you just buy one!? hu.gif

We have been invited to be on the Upstate Farm Tour through CFSA this June. The lady in charge is coming out this afternoon to tour the farm. Not sure what we'll be doing but I guess I'll be talking chicken. We might even be a meal stop. We initially turned her down since it's on June 2-3 and our house is supposed to ready at the end of May. I kind of wanted to focus on moving and not preparing for a bunch of people coming to the farm. But she talked me into it. Has anyone done the Farm Tour (your farm or just going to a farm)? We haven't. I'm curious what all people do at their farms. Cole plans to have a sing-along a few times during the afternoon for the kids. That man loves an opportunity to whip out the guitar and sing.

Enjoy your day!
