I hate that for you and Colin! How old were they? Did they travel far? I just don't know what is going on with the birds right now...not really that hot yet or anything!

Speaking of the Winston-Salem show today........one of my bantam Cochins I sold last fall won today! woot.gif

I am so excited as he was one I bred and this is an APA show! How awesome that another one of mine has done well in a show. It always makes me happy to see that. I feel like I am doing something right, even if for my own pleasure.

Hi Susanne!

I didn't know you were a member here, too. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about the losses - that is so sad.

Good luck with the new house!  What a beautiful place you have and that new house will be just wonderful.

How's Tigger?

BTW - Huckeye, Buttercup, Butterbean, and the four chicks are all doing wonderfully.  I just love them all. :)

Hubby calls it my menagerie.  I just call it home.  Could be a lot worse.  I used to list all my various birds, critters, and dogs here, but the list is changing too fast now!  Let's just say I have Ameraucanas, EE, Light Brahmas, turkeys, and rabbits. Oh, and can't forget my two beautiful Labradors, Eli and Conner.

Oh, how awful for all of you who just found hens dead in their pen!  That has to be terrible, and puzzling!

That is sad...tube feeding doesn't take any longer than bottle...just a stronger stomach for it...it can seem brutal as they usually put up a fight when tubing them...and its risky if you miss the right tube so to speak but I would be willing to come get him and try and save him...

He's getting skinnier and weaker every day. I keep trying to feed him, thinking he'll be hungry enough to eat but he won't. Even if I squirt formula in his mouth, he won't swallow. It just runs out. The other one is doing great though. Live and learn!

I am sorry to hear of all the chicken losses and other critters. How terrible. I know it can happen but it always seem to be disturbing in our cycle of life. So far so good here but I am sure once the temps get over 90 I will find my share. I worry most about my Cochins with all those feathers. They seem miserable but I make sure I hose down the coops and they have ice water.

Thanks but I am sure she did a lot of work to get him ready. The show prep can be exhausting and the time and care beforehand is more than I want to do. I know eventually I will have to to help get the MF Cochins recognized but I am not looking forward to it.
