Dang Amy......sorry u had to experience such. I was at work when the storm hit. There was hail, but not much. AKA no damage......

Sam- love the froggie Sooooo much. I can imaging it looks wonderful beside your blow up pool smile.png u know I'm kidding.....Looks great!! I have a fountain, but no pond sad.png

Patsy, I might have more leads on the polish if u don't mind eggs.

DH says I've been off playing. I say I've been spending quality time with my boys. Went to Mt Airy, NC (Mayberry). Had lots of fun. Boys had their hair cut at floyds barber shop. Saw andy's homeplace, The jail, and barneys cop car. They also had an old fashioned soda shoppe and candy store. Neat little town. Also Stopped by Pilot Knobb state park. Awesome!!! Then off to visit family. Also had lunch with some of my NC silkie peeps. Great time. Came home to a pleasant surprise (silkie in the bator).

Now off to feed.....they didn't get let out yesterday.

Happy Easter peeps!! Peace be with you smile.png

Hi Nikki! Am still looking for a closer hen than Upstate Virginia but I love that you hooked me up to that one...he does not ship live birds but I do plan on visiting maybe late fall to buy...he has some awesome birds! I wanted a hen right now but patiently waiting on something to unfold. I do have one from the pair that is about 10-12 weeks old and just not so sure if she is a she or a he...LOLOL

I am sad to say the silkie egg you gave me did not hatch and neither did the one I had. I actually had an aweful hatch and experience with this hatch and am stepping back and strategizing on what went wrong and what to do next! I am thinking of just ordering a brinsea (sp?) to have more control of humidity and temp. I got a lot of pips and some zips only to just stop and die??? Who knows what was up with that...had the same experience last hatch but soooo many more this time!

What an awesome time you had traveling with the boys and looks like there was a lot of fun for everyone!

I do hope everyone has a wonderful Easter holiday!!! Another time that "Jesus is the reason for the season"!

Girl.....after u kill the snake, u are supposed to hang it up as a warning for the other snakes to stay away!!! And yes, I have a LOT of air. Be glad it's not of gaseous form- lol. smile.png

We were talking snakes yesterday at Amy's and she said she puts out sulfer around the coops...I actually sorta kinda remember hearing that when I was younger too...I am going to definatly check into it...we never had snakes in the coop last summer but this has been a strange winter so who knows! BTW I am planning on having a BYC family cook out first sat in May!! You have gotta come! And you could come show off those amazing silkies at the TSC swap meet in Laurens on the 21st!!

Oh no! Not another one! I don't see any eggs in this one but Jesse is such a brave fella for taking care of it! At least it wasn't tangled around the car seat, or his neck!

Your hen is looking to help. What a good girl! LOL

Yes, I put sulfer around the coop and have no more problems. I buy granules or powder and shake a line mostly along the back because they come from the woods. I have not ever seen one take my eggs but did lose some duck eggs last year and could only figure a snake had gotten them. It is time to put some out again.

I also put it all around my brooder room and along the top boards around the ceiling since I have had some come in from above.

Got more cleaned up today! Making progress and the Insurance adjuster should be here on Monday or Tuesday. I have lots of pix and a long list of damaged stuff plus prices.

Still gotta take some photos of the roof vents. They were smashed pretty flat, which we did not notice til today. They were put on brand spanking new last spring! Always something!

Bantam Cochins are my love! Mille Fleur projects, buff barred projects and black/blue Mottled. Chickens, Guineas, Ducks, Peafowl and Meal Worms. Contact me for hatching eggs and a link to my website.

My project this fall/winter with the help of an "old timer" has been to add Silver/Grey Dorkings here. Seems they are surviving my inexperience in raising chickens (although I am very pro-active trying to learn)! Mr Ken gave me two batches of hatching eggs 3 weeks apart. (I continue to try to wrangle some more but he just offers eating eggs now! I love him so much though even with his eccentricities like me!) Seems I need to name my farm something descriptive of Roosters(!!!) because I am destined to have roosters! undefinedundefined But you gotta love those Roos! love.gif I have 16 pullets and 19 cockerels still growing! They are 10 and 13 weeks old and growing strong and healthy and beautiful!! Time will tell where this adventure goes! They are friendly and are now finally calming down but as chicks they loved to fly out everytime I opened the brooder...hahaha (not what you would say are flighty as in scared...just seem to love to fly) Who knew chickens love to fly at the drop of a hat or the opening of a lid/door?!?!?! gig.gif
