Thanks Amy! Jackies little boy is absolutely PRECIOUS! Can't wait to have my little one here! I'll have to make sure he/she loves chickens & ducks as much as I do!

Nope, no chickens in the truck, they tend to be a bit "messy" and I go to some very high security places that don't allow pets of any kind.

One H/W team do keep a small Cockatiel with them. He has a perch on the dash and rides just like he belongs there.

We did bring a small RIR in the house to mend after an attack by a fox, other than the poop she wasn't much different than a cat. She would explore and eventually hop into your lap and preen, for some reason I really enjoyed it.

One night she was on the couch with us and kept eyeballing the ceiling fan (it was off) for about ten minutes. All of a sudden she flew up and roosted on top of the fan, hilarious. I surmised since it was night she was looking for a roost to sleep. We took the shower curtain down and put just the rod back up, worked perfect for her roost. She's now back out with the flock doing chicken stuff. Call me crazy, but there was bond created when my GF brought her in and nursed her. When she hears or sees Karen she's right there and has no problem being picked up. Kinda miss her in the house, always provided a good laugh with her antics.

SLW babies already are getting feathers, they grow up so fast I put the mom and babies out in a pen in the main pasture, and all the wyandottes gathered around to examine these little newbies mama hen, however, was not happy at all.

Also, we attempted to take the ducks to the pond once more, but they were back at the house within an hour. Oh well. I guess they can stay up here, just not in the run with the chickens. This is them on the way down there riding in the truck

There used to be a guy around here that rode around with his parrot on the top of the seat in his pick up truck. Always made me turn my head. I bet that Cockatiel has a fine time riding around with the owners. Shame you can't have a pet chicken along for the rides. Trucking can get lonely.

I only have chicks in the house, I have never had the desire for a chicken but then I have meal worm containers every where and no doubt they would help themselves.

Cute chick! I love the SLW. I have a pile of them now. I just set another 10 eggs from them today and keep finding youngsters when I move around my brooders. I just moved a few outside to a grow up pen and still forgot to check if they were boys or girls. Too many chicks to worry about gender yet.

Love those ducks! And I am sure they were thrilled with the ride in the truck!

The only time my Pekins get in their pool is when it is 100 degrees or fresh filled for that twice a week bath. They really aren't very good pond ducks. Growing up in the 1970's it was the "thing" to have Pekins as backyard pets. They made nice pets but didn't require much water. However, the local zoos wound up with a surplus as people tired of them and began dropping them off.

I really like mine. They lay huge, delicious eggs!

I love my SLWs as well. Everyone who visits comments on how beautiful they are, and say they look like they've been drawn on with a sharpie. The hens are so calm and inquisitive. My rooster is calm as long as you don't mess with his hens. He isn't afraid to lay down the law if you do, and he's even gave my lab a thrashing when he thought it would be fun to chase hens! Poor Luke is now very reluctant to go into the yard, and when he does, he's basically glued to my leg haha.

I used to have a Pekin hen, and she did lay such nice large eggs. I picked up these guys when tractor supply had them. I hoped I'd gotten girls, but alas, luck was not with me. One of them has black feathers under his wings, so I'm don't think he's pure. I picked him so I could tell them apart. I do wish they'd stay at the pond though. They're so pretty gliding around on the water, they almost look like swans from far away on the water. They've been fun to raise anyway and have been very comical. Now, hopefully, they'll chase chickens who get out of the run and help me to convince the chickens to stay in!

Put Sulfur around the coop to keep the snakes out. They won't cross a line of sulfur. It looks like a dust storm when I put more down but I don't find snakes in my barn anymore.

Thank you SO much, but the snake seems to have been able to accomplish what I have not been able to do for 2 months!!!  My broody has been off the nest all day! I am going to go and get the sulfur stuff, where did you get yours?  We are in Boiling Springs.  Thanks!
