BluRoo (Marina) has the oldest male blue/barred that has been grown out from the cross of my blue rock over barred rocks. He's probably about 5 months old now. I never thought in a million years that he'd end up looking like this.

I'm curious now about the blue and the barring. Not sure if you know, but any idea why the barring didn't go down his whole body (chest)? I'm wondering if the lacing gene interferred with the barring gene there. Also, how do you recreate it to produce blue barred hens? This is all very interesting and so cool! I hope you don't mind my inquiring mind.

Jody, Marina mentioned to me, and I tend to agree, that the barring, which only went to the male chicks, seems to only be on the male feathering, ie. the hackle and saddle feathers. I think we need to grow a few more out to see if this is a persistant pattern. I hope it is. Marina is putting him in with a blue, splash, and barred hen (isnt that what you said, Marina??) and Im sure she'll be hatching them out as fast as she can to see what she gets then. You would think the barred hens would produce some sort of blue barring. This is unchartered territory for sure.
