All of your ducks are so pretty! love.gif

Daisy is molting like crazy this last week. So I've been teasing her by giving her "bunny ears"

It almost makes up for not getting eggs!

Out of 11 I think I probably have 5 ducks and 6 drakes. Some of the drakes have developed 'angel wing' (which if you know anything about the cause I would like to know I'm not finding much info on that). I will probably keep 3 or four of the drakes and all the ducks.

In the meantime I would like to know what to call these colors

This is duck #1

Duck #2

They are close to the same shade of grey, just the sun makes them look more different than they are

Duck #3

Duck #4

Duck #5

she was in the shade, I will try and get a better pic of her another day. I love the look of her breast feathers

Drake #1 he has the same markings on his breast as the last duck

Drake #2 is the biggest one; he's really huge; I'm going to have to buy a hanging scale so I can put him in a bucket to weigh him.

Drake #3 matches ducks #3 & 4

Anyway I would like to get some idea of what to call these different colors and also the genetic possibilities when they are bred together. I really love the looks of the chocolates I've seen on here and would like to get some of them too! I searched for several months for someone selling scovies as I wanted them for meat. Now that I have them I am really enjoying them. The drakes are still growing out feathers as you can see. Some of the ducks were pulling the drakes feathers out, even making them bleed; I am feeding turkey/gamebird grower along with sprouted grains, greens and such; wonder why the feather pulling? I have those ducks seperated now though.

Okay wheres ian when we need him?  or leary cow?  they are both know the right color variations     Me their blue/ black/ lavender/ chocolate. Get the pic.

I love this thread. I want to add pictures of mine but the new system wont let me :( . Last weekend i brought a muscovy duck with 11 babies. Im wondering what the are like as in temprement? There has been a lot of controversy as to whether theyre friendly or vicious and a nusance. I cant really tell with mine as the duck is extreamly protective of her young. I am also finding it difficult to figure out coulours - i know it would be much easier with pictures! - but could you please post some pictures of young blck and brown ducklings so i have an idea? At what age would i know the sex too and how do i identify? thanks!
