Thanks!

Stromberg's has them. I think they are 9.00 each?

Hi all,

I am very new to Muscovy ducks. I have one that looks very much like the wild Muscovy pictured in one of the post I read. His name is "Ugh"
He is my daughters but she does not pay attention to him so I adopted him. He does not trust anyone at this time but I am working on it. I just love his personality.

I would love to find a female for him or if anyone is selling eggs I would like to buy only 3 if possible.   Also Ugh has recently found his way into my chicken coop. Is it ok to house the ducks and chickens together?

Actually the cat is waiting to see if I will toss him any cracked eggs. He does that when we are milking the goats also, as I will give him milk when I am done. Likes a little eggs and milk with his meat (mice).

Hi Karen,
I'm new to Muscovies also but I do have mine in with my chickens right now and haven't had any trouble.  That said, I do want to build them their own secured housing because they are messier than the chickens w/water and the chickens are outcompeting them for the food.  I have a number of chicken feeders and a nice pan of food for the chickens but the chooks are like pirana in comparsion to those ducks.  roll   Once the ducks start breeding and we have ducklings plus brooding chicks I think we are going to have too much competion amongst them.

If you do keep Ugh (love the name) with the chooks, esp. since he is all alone right now,  keep an eye on him that he doesn't give the hens a hard time.   I've seen drakes harass the hens  when it's breeding season and they have no ducks of their own.  They get very frustrated  wink  and will sometimes fight with the roos for dominance over the flock  and also figure any girl, hen or duck, will do.  (at least this is my experience with drake mallards).

Great photos everyone!

I'm not very active here ... don't visit too many forums these days but thought I'd pop on here and let some of you know that if you're interested in being included, I have a breeder's map on my website so that people who are looking for birds/eggs/ducklings to buy can find someone in their general area who have birds available throughout the year.

http://www.muscovyduckcentral.com/breedersmap.html

A lot of people have already started Emailing me looking for birds and I just don't have the time anymore to raise/sell that many so I started the map to help send people in the right direction.

Photos of some of my birds can be found throughout the website.

I saw your post in the Maryland thread.  I live in Thurmont MD and drive through Mt Airy on my way to work in Columbia.  I have a Brown Muscovey male and a Black Muscovey female.  I believe she has started laying.  I need to seperate the two of them from the other ducks.  I would be happy to sell you a few eggs or I can let her hatch them and then sell you some ducklings.  You decide and let me know.

Muscovy,  welcome-byc
I love your website.    smile   I found it about a month or so ago and tabbed it into my favorites.   Your breeder's map is how I found my Scovies.  It's informative articles also helped with our decision to raise Muscovies, so, Thank You!   Good job!

Awwww! Chicken Kisses, those are the Cutest Scovies!  lau
You just wonder what they are thinking about in that last pic.  Just adorable.  What do you call that color pattern on the dark ones?  I'd love some of those.

Thanks KOTH!!

I'm so glad that the site encourages people to try Muscovy!  While checking my Inbox is sometimes a full time job, I've got to talk to people from all over the world about Muscovy & it's great to be able to interact with everyone.

Chicken Kisses, that first pic is fabulous!  There's nothing shy about that little guy, is there?

BTW ... in the photo I posted I forgot to mention the caruncling on that guy.  He had by far the most caruncling I've had on a bird (he wasn't my breeding) and I considered his to be excessive.
