Forgot to add this one. This is a picture of most of my egg colors right now. Can't wait to get some olive mixed in and maybe a little white.

Does anyone here have Ameracauna/Welsummer mixed Olive Eggers? or just Ameracauna/Marans crosses?     I would LOVE to see pictures of some Amera/Welsummer olive eggers. I bought 2 pullets this year(welsummer) with the intention of hunting down a good Ameracauna roo next year to breed them to. I haven't had any luck seeing pictures of this kind of OE yet though.  =(

The few pics I posted are of Welsummer x Ameracuana cross. I will try to take better pics when I get my good camera out.

Egg basket

Very nice!

I totally forgot about white when planning my colorful egg basket.  We need white just to help show off the other colors right?

This past Christmas I was doing a lot of baking and my hens were not really laying so I had to break down and buy a dozen white eggs.  My 3 1/2 year old daughter who has only ever seen our own colorful eggs saw the white eggs on the counter and squealed  "oooo pretty!".  Lol... she had never seen white eggs so those seemed unusual to her...not our pretty blues, greens and browns.  lol

Beautiful chicks and eggs, spunkychickenmomma!

and great story about the white eggs, Christie Rhae.

Bleenie, I will attempt to put my EE roo x Welsummer cross egg here (but it almost never works on my IPad).

Ok, error message as usual.  If you really want to see it, go to my profile page, in the default album, photo 5 (Oct. 25) of 4 eggs, olive egg in the upper left corner.  The dark egg in the photo I call a Marans (it came out of shipped eggs from an olive egger hatch), but my Welsummer lays a very dark egg.  I think the Welsummer egg is photo 19.

I think it is worth experimenting!

You have to get white.... they really add to your basket and are better at Easter for dyeing than the browns..... and the Leghorns lay when nobody else will..... I have 3 pullets and get 3 eggs a day for 10 days and then I get 2..... My other Leghorns do not lay as well as that pen yet but soon.....
