We have a supply of pallets that are at least 10 ft long and we are going to build a cabin in the back of our farm for a retreat near the creek.  That would look way better than what I had in mind... Hello everyone been a while but i wanted to share a few of my OE project chicks.

They are Blue Jersey Giant ( have a few with good dark eggs)

This is the one of the ones I like best so far.

I know he is a single comb but i want to keep him just to see what h ends up like

The feather hanging down was from me when we moved them into the grow out coop. Was not happy about it.

I have a few younger ones like this with the muffs & beard.

She had a bread at hatch so I hope it will fill in sooner or later.

on this one it's a mix of dark blue and black. the black is the lacing.

How dark? Honestly I've never seen Jersey Giants lay dark eggs, and just my opinion, but for an Olive Egger to truly be so, the dark laying origin parent needs an egg 5 or better on the Marans chart, preferably in my opinion 6 or better.

Not trying to downgrade though, they still are some beautiful chicks!

From your Avitar picture starting with the darkest marans to lightest.

I have 2 that lay about the 4 Dark egg lf-rt. There are  a few a shade or 2 lighter too.

I hope to get the JG size in body and egg size ,but keep the pea comb and the muffs and breads.

I used Cuckoo marans for the first cross and the second (F2) a Blue wheaten marans.

The Hens I have are F2's and lay a dark green with a hint of brown on them.

I have a lot of Marans eggs coming in so now if I can just get enough to hatch that I can have a breeder coop so I can use them when needed.

My JG's lay from a cream brown to a med brown (about a 4 for marans )

I have actually been to that site... it has some great ideas.

That is one beauty of a dozen eggs, stylish too......and what are the hens?

I was not sure where else to post this and the BST won't allow me to post, but if anyone is near New York State, I have some free Olive Egger roosters to offer. Well there are four in all- 3 Olive Egger plus 1 Ameraucana. The Olive Eggers are 1/2 Black Copper Marans and 1/2 Ameraucana, all have pea combs. There are two black OE that have slate legs, one has feathered legs, you can see some white when they flap their wings. There is a black Olive Egger with yellow legs & brown mixed in, pea comb also. All are for free if anybody wants them and is able to get them.I put an ad up on the local craigslist and people only want to eat them- I think they are too pretty to eat and could be used in someone's program because of their characteristics. The Olive Eggers all came from olive green eggs with brown speckles, looked like dino eggs, & the Amer. from a blue egg. Oh and they are only 2 months old. I am 99% sure they are boys because the girls of the same batch have pale combs & these guys have bright red combs, plus they are huge.
