Still can't tell if mine are hens or roos. they are now 17 weeks old! Their parants where BCMs x EE.

None of them started to crow yet... Combs are red.

I just hatched several OE about two weeks ago. Some have straight combs and some have pea combs. Do they mean different things?

They both look a lot more pullety than my 6 week chicks! I would say two pullets. And, the rule I go by when I can't tell is... "They're a hen til' they crow!"

Mine are 7 weeks and I am having the very same issue.  One day I will think there are a few roos.  the next day I think they are ALL roos and then after that I will think they are mostly hens..........soo frustrated.  My OE's are in with my marans, they all are blending in at this point...sigh...

Wife and Mother of 4 (ages 14 to 3)  we have 2 labs, I ride Paint horses, work in the veterinary industry and our flock consists of:  3 speckled sussex, 2 buff opingtons, 2 Delaware and 1 black orpington.

I love to garden and have tons of veggies that I can and freeze.  Hubby "tolerates" my chicken habbit :-) ..kids find the chickens very cool and like eating the vegetables heaps better...

so I guess all of them are pullets. All of them have pea combs.

Pea comb doesn't have anything to do with male or female. Roos can have pea combs too.

Most of my OE roos have had red/brown in their wings by 17 weeks.
