Feeding chicken to chickens?

Most commercial feed does not have animal protein in it. It has plant protein. They do not have to put the plant protein in, but do so because of the mad cow disease scare. Feed mills are no longer allowed to include animal protein in cow and hog feed, but it has not been restricted for poultry yet. The commercial companies are doing it on their own.

Wow, I never realized u could feed chickens meat.....I guess it makes sense tho, they love to eat anything.
Got a question for some of you chicken experts....I remember a post on here with a link that said birds and chickens will not swell up and die from eating rice......can someone post that link again, a friend of mine does not believe me. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!

That is for uncooked rice. You can feed them cooked rice without worries.

Thanks hinkj, I could of swore they were talking about the uncooked rice tho. I appreciate the help, and will make sure they get the cooked rice, mine love the brocoli and cheese kind....yummy:lol:

This may be controversial to some but food banks are the place to get old bread for chickens. One here in Salt Lake City allows you to take as much bread as you like and I ask them to set aside stuff that would otherwise be thrown out (hard moldy etc)

This is totally up to you but I go to food banks for bread for my chickens. There is one here that allows you to take as much as you please but I asked them to set aside what people won't eat (hard, moldy etc)
