Do chickens see colors or black and white?

All the research I found says colors. I usually wear blue denim overalls and a denim chore coat. My chickens are very friendly and flock around me but one day I had my brown coveralls on and they ran from me. It took forever to get them in their house. This has happened on several occasions. When I wear my usual attire, all is right again.

I think they diffently think they see color. My son was outside with the girls and his rooster. He was wearing a pair of floresent green basketball shorts and shirt. His rooster started chasing him all over the yard. He didnt bother me a bit. Next day my son was wearing something diffrent and he didnt chase him. Every time he wears the ugly green my son gets
I find this interesting. I went in the coop with a blue shirt, nothing happened, purple same thing, tonight i went in with a black hoodie and they kept jumping on me. the one was on my shoulder and hubby had to take her off so I could leave.

There must be something to this. I was always told chickens didn't like red.

I have found out they don't like when I wear anything that makes me look different. Like a hat, rain coat with the hood over my head exc. They freak out and don't calm down until I talk to them and hear my voice. Also I go out so early in the morning to give them grapes that they love :) and their scratch grain. I'm still in my pajama Pants. I have one pair that has outlined stars on them. Every time I wear those the girls and my one rooster jump up pecks and pulls them. All I know is I give chickens more credit now that I have them. I never knew they were so smart.

My 3 week old chicks hate my gloves I use they are St. Louis blues hockey gloves and are blue in color. But using my hands they are less timid. Weird.
