My Pet Chicken

I recently placed an order for 13 Barred Rocks. They were to be delivered on October 19. Yesterday I got on their site and saw the same chicks would be available a week earlier.(October 13). I called and spoke with Judy who was very pleasant and helpful. She not only changed the shipping date for me(without a change fee as outlined in thier policy)
Then Judy was able to save me on shipping charges and stated I could get 2 more chicks with savings. Which I did.
I hope shipping and receiving go as well. I think with the kind of customer service I already received, they will. I'll let you know once they arrive.
That's great! We love Judi!

This morning we got our MPC order of 10 babies and everyone looks great so far, eating, drinking and bustling about! The breeds I was interested all lined up for a date that worked well.

The only hiccup, NOT a MPC issue, was when the USPS express mail shipping tracker information showed "departed Cleveland" for 24 hours with no further scans. The local post office was great about keeping me informed after I brought it to their attention, and called me right when they came off the truck at 4AM so I could attend to them at the earliest possible time.

Oh, I'm sorry that the USPS didn't keep you informed. I'm glad they all arrived safely. They look happy and I'm sure you will enjoy them for years.

I had the same issue last week with my delivery of 15 chicks. It wasn't MPC fault but mine showed having left Cleveland and no more updates until they arrived at my local post office. I thought it was strange.
I wonder why this is happening with live animal shipments. Mine also went to another post office a half hour away, who called me and offered to let me pick them up there. I did get a text from the USPS telling me they had been delivered after I got home. Strange

:( That sounds like a problem with the Post Office. I'm sorry that your chicks weren't delivered closer to your house.

Rewster, I'm glad someone else had the same experience, and thank you for sharing, in hopes that our documenting the problem helps ease concerns for someone else who may find our posts when worried that their chicks are marooned somewhere... or help MPC know that chicks leaving Cleveland might seemingly disappear off the tracking system for more than 24hrs. In reading the MPC email it does of course note delays in USPS updates. What unnerved me was having the 'got here' 'departing' and then nothing. It's a separate issue from not having the tracking number show up in the system etc.

The post office gal that kept in contact with me did mention that those late in the day shipments sometimes don't update for some reason, so I'm not sure if this problem is confined to live animal shipments or if it has to do with USPS's tracking system overall.

I was lucky in that our local USPS "DCU" (distribution something or other) was within 3 miles of my house so the 4AM drive was quick! When I went to pick them up this AM and she scanned the box to release it to me, it didn't do what she expected it to. I got my "delivered" notification 5 HOURS after I'd picked them up, and then with all those time stamps that were worryingly absent while waiting for live chicks!

I am very happy with my chicks that I ordered and received through My Pet Chicken. I order 15 and it's been a week and they are all doing well. I ordered Barred Rocks. It is my first time with this particular breed,
'
I want to say I am extremely happy and satisfied with MPC. They helped me change my order date and also helped me save on shipping and got me 2 extra chicks in the trade.

MPC is awesome. My problem was with the USPS as I described not updating their tracking information on a very important shipment in my opinion. And since I am not the only one that has experienced this with the Post Office, there must be a computer or personnel failing somewhere. Had I been aware they were going to show up at the other Post Office I would have made arrangements to there and pick them up.

Bottom line my chicks are here and they appear healthy and happy. Thanks again My Pet Chicken for helping me out.

My 15 are all healthy, no losses and going on week five. I have an interesting assortment from my ten mixed bag group and my Delawares are gorgeous!! Just made the brooder to coop move today and I'm so happy.

My Plymouth Rocks are going on week 5 as well and no losses. All are growing like crazy and have outgrown the brooder. I am
going to try to get them outside to the new pen today.

I might say that one of my roos that I received has a crooked lower beak. It juts over to the left and apparently makes it hard for him to eat. He is about half the size of the others so I have been trying to give him extra handling and give him first dibs at new foods I introduce. He is by far the friendliest one in the group, probably because he has been handled so much.

I'm praying he makes it.

I love our barred rocks! I'm so glad to hear they are growing fast and thriving.

Have you emailed or called the office about the crooked beak chick? We will be happy to refund you for that deformity and have lots of information on ensuring his quality of life.

Alex, thank you for your response. I have not contacted MPC as yet due to the fact it is something beyond your control. I am happy they are still alive after 5 weeks. I usually loose 2 or 2 during this period on prior purchases from other hatcheries. So I am not upset in the least about Little Big Man and his deformity. I will contact you though to see how to keep him alive and thriving though. It is number one on my to do list. I am very happy with my chicks and will be ordering more in the spring.

I understand your point of view but we really feel strongly about standing behind the chicks we ship out. Please let me know if you have anymore problems or questions about caring for him or your refund.

Here we are at day 28, all 10 mypetchicken.com chicks are doing great and growing like weeds. The Buff Orpingtons are by far the most outgoing. One of the Barred Rocks is considerably smaller at this stage but is just as vigorous as everyone else. The Australorps and one of the Easter Eggers are disinclined to handling. Love them all and happy with their progress.
