Sweet Potato Biscuits photo added

I was just looking through one of the little magazine type flyers Tractor Supply puts out and came acrossed this recipe
Lewis W. Mayers is the original recipe baker its one of his favorites...


2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
4 tbs sugar
4 tbsp shortning
1 cup cooked mashed sweet potato
3/4 c milk

preheat oven to 450 deg
sift dry ingredients
cut in shortning
stir in sweet potato and add milk gradually
roll or pat out on a board  and cut as desired.
bake 8 - 10 minutes.

I am so going to try this recipe. matter being I am heading to the store as soon as I get done posting this for some sweet tatters, YUM!

Those sound really good.

Lots of Chickens, 5 guineas, 8 ducks, 2 ducklings, goats: 2 does, 2 bucklings, 1 doeling and 1 wether... and a painted mare

oh my word.  i might as well mix up a batch and duct tape them to my hinney, cuz that's where they'll end up.  not that it wont be worth it!!!

I didnt get a chance to make them today , all hocley sticks broke out here today. but yo can bet my bigg butt I am making them tomorrow.

Wonder what would happen if you tossed in some cinnamon...
or rolled them in cinnamon and coarse sugar before baking...

What's redneck elsewhere is "green" in Oregon.

1 husband, 2 sons, 2 cats, 3 goats, 59 chicks, 22? assorted hens, 1 stupid rooster, a rooster in waiting, 3 Khaki Campbell ducks, no partridge, and no pear tree.  This is what happens when you deny your children pet birds.

hmm thats an interesting twist, I will try it tomorrow when I make them up.
Sweet potato, squash, and pumpkin, I would think would all make up the same.
Im thinking sort of like a sweet potato pie taste?
oh yeah gotta try that lol.
ETA: this key board and its skipping letters will be replaced tomorrow. grrrrr
