The brown one is from our Gold Sex Links, who started laying late last year. We don't have a picture of their first egg.

one 3-year-old Gold Sex Link hen and thirteen 2 year old EasterEgger hens, one EE rooster, twenty-four chicks of assorted breeds, and sixteen Giant White, BB Bronze, and Naragansett poults

First one came just after July 4th, and didn't even register as "small" on my egg scale!

Where I find them... (and yes, the golfballs worked!)

Using up the store-bought farm eggs (the lower five) and filling in with my own! I've since filled this carton twice!

I think collecting eggs is one of my favorite daily chores! lol

Oh, and some of my girls started around 17/18 weeks, and the rest were laying by 24. And yes, they've been on layer from roughly 17 weeks.

Standard Girls: 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Australorps, and 2 Gold-laced Wyandottes
Bantams: 1 black Cochin hen, and one red roo
Ducks: coming again soon!
Others: 3 Nigerian Dwarf wethers, 1 cat, 2 dogs, 4 pond goldfish, and one India Blue peacock

Our first egg came today, from Eunice, a red sex-link chicken!

My wife is holding the egg; we were both thrilled.  big_smile

We have 3 Red Sex-Link chickens, our first ever, named Eunice, Lobelia, and Gertrude!

Here's a picture of our first egg that we got on July 8th of this year.  Once we found our first egg, we switched the girls to egg laying feed.  We've always had oyster shell available to them to feed at will.  Our girls (RIW & NHR) who were born March 10th, were two days shy of 4 months old when we found our first egg.  I can't tell you though which breed gave us that first egg.
