To tell which hen lays which egg, it is suggested that you take a q-tip and put different colors of food color on the vents of your hens.  The color will smear onto the egg. (Keep track of what bird you put what color on it.)  That is how you tell which chicken is laying which egg....unless you want to install cameras in the coop!  LOL  Hope this helps.

Mother to 4 wonderful children, grandmother to 4.  1 DH (39 years), 1 pug, 1 Basenji, 1 dashshund mix (notice I put my DH in that same group! hahaha)  6 EE's, 1 Buff Orphington, 1 RIR, 1 Silkie, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Brown Leghorn, 1 Polish, 1 Welsummer.  Hope to fill my basket with different colored eggs!

Well, it is tiny and it isn't golden like my husband said it better be, but it's cute and I bet it's yummy! I have six Buff Orp girls that will be 18 weeks old tomorrow.

My four girls only began laying about 2 weeks ago and finally they are all producing!  We were hoping for a dozen eggs a week but at the rate they're going my friends and family are going to benefit!  I gave 6 to my girlfriend who started this whole thing a couple of years ago when she gave me some beautiful green and blue eggs.

My kids have flown the coop so now I have one wonderfully patient husband, three dogs, two cats, fish and now hens: 1 wheaten maran and 1 black ameraucanas, 1 brauma, 1 easter egger and a silkie!

There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings. ~Hodding Carter, Jr.

These are the 1st eggs from my 2 Marans.  They both laid their 1st eggs two days ago!  It was kinda a bummer that they are not dark, but I got over it quickly.  We have a backyard flock of very spoiled girls, I'm not going for show birds here.  So it's a good thing I got them instead of someone who would not love them despite of their light egg color!  We go for personality here!

Here they are next to the big girl eggs.  I got the cream one from my Blue, and the brown with freckles from my Black.  We watched her lay that one, and boy was she vocal about it when she was done!  She wanted EVERYone to know SHE had just laid an egg!!!
